St. Mary's County BCI Police Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 6, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

SHOOTING VICTIM: On June 29 at approximately 2 a.m., St. Mary's Hospital reported a shooting victim had arrived at the emergency room. BCI detectives responded and determined that while patrons were leaving Butler's Place in Lexington Park, several shots were fired. Jawon Nathaniel Berry, 21, was struck in the groin one time and taken to the hospital by acquaintances. He was subsequently flown to Washington Hospital Center and is listed in stable condition. HOME INVASION: On July 5 at approximately 5:30 a.m., police responded to a home invasion on Point Lookout Road in Ridge. Three men forced entry into an apartment occupied by a 32 year-old male and a 38 year-old female. Once inside the men began beating the male victim with wooden sticks and a metal pipe. When the female victim attempted to aid the male victim, she was also struck several times. The male victim was robbed of his money and the three men fled. The male victim was treated at St. Mary's Hospital for lacerations, a broken tooth, and broken jaw. On July at approximately 11 p.m., BCI detectives investigating the incident arrested James Perry Bond, 18, with no fixed address, and Garry Wayne Morris, 20, from Great Mills. Both men were charged with armed robbery, burglary, theft and assault. They are incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. The third suspect, Nicholas Walter Bond, 20, with no fixed address, is currently at large, and detectives currently have an arrest warrant for him.

BURGLARY, THEFT: On July 2 BCI detectives arrested Charles L. (Skippy) Guy Jr., 45, of Hollywood, along with his son, Charles B. Guy, 19, of Mechanicsville. The pair were charged with 2 counts of burglary, theft and property destruction for the May 17 burglary of Southern Maryland Pool and Spa in Hollywood and a May 22 residential burglary on Sandy Bottom Road in Hollywood. Charles B. Guy was also charged with additional counts of burglary and theft for a March 31 residential burglary on Theresa Court in Mechanicsville. Both men were incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

SEX OFFENSE, FAILURE TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT: On July 2, BCI detectives arrested Derrick C. Mason, 28, of California. Mason who is a registered sex offender, was charged with a Third Degree Sex Offense and Sexual Abuse of a Minor for an incident with a fifteen year-old female that occurred on June 16 in Mechanicsville. In addition he was served with a Circuit Court Warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

ASSAULT: On June 30 at approximately 9 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to Chancellor's Run Apartments in Great Mills for a reported stabbing. It was determined that during a dispute Mary Agnes Morgan, 39, stabbed Kevin Eugene Watts, 45, in the chest with a screwdriver. Watts was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and later transported to Washington Hospital Center for his injuries. Morgan was arrested and charged by BCI detectives with first and second degree assault. She was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
