Md. NRP Police Reports


ANNAPOLIS (July 6, 2009) - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

BOATING ACCIDENT: On July 4 at approximately 1:36 pm, the NRP investigated a boating accident that involved a personal watercraft striking another vessel. The accident occurred in the Wicomico River near Cobb Island Charles County. Preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the personal watercraft was Robert Allen Shymansky of Cobb Island. Shymansky struck a vessel that he was attempting to pass. Mr. Shymansky was flown to Prince Georges Hospital where he was being treated for undisclosed injuries. The investigation of the accident is continuing.

SPRAY PAINTING GRAFFITI: On July 5 at 3:30 am, the Maryland NRP arrested and charged Marvin G. Salamanca for malicious destruction of property for spray painting graffiti on the causeway of Route 5 at Point Lookout State Park. Salamanca was also charged with possession of alcohol in a state park.

NRP is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction.
