LA PLATA, Md. (July 6, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.
BREAK-IN/THEFT OF CIGARETTES: On June 30 at 1:45 a.m., officers responded to Glasva CITGO at 11040 Crain Highway in Glasva for an intrusion alarm. Upon arrival, officers noticed a window had been broken out of a booth and cigarette packs were strewn in the parking lot. The owner of the business responded, took inventory, and determined that two packs of cigarettes had been stolen. Officer S. Fulton is investigating.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On June 29 at 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the Bryans Road Shopping Center at 3100 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road for the report of multiple thefts from vehicles. Investigation revealed unknown suspects broke into three cars, stole GPS units and fled in a burgundy Dodge Charger. As officers were processing the scene, they received a call for a citizen robbery outside the Bryans Road Food Lion. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect approached a woman, grabbed her purse and fled in a burgundy vehicle. The cases appear to be related. The Charles County Crime Solvers are offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects. Officer J. Johnson is investigating.
TEEN ARRESTED BREAKING INTO SCHOOL: On June 26 at 12:12 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Benjamin Stoddert Middle School at 2040 St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf for the report of an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they discovered a rear window had been broken out. A perimeter was established and officers and a K-9 began searching the inside of the school. As they searched, officers observed the suspect flee through a back door. He was apprehended without incident. A check revealed the suspect, a 15-year-old male from Waldorf, stole gift cards and keys from the school. He was charged with burglary and theft. Officer S. Weedon is investigating.
