LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 20, 2009)—The Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival has long been considered the most unique and intimate jazz experience in Southern Maryland. The event is slated for Saturday, July 11 at the St. Clement's Island Museum in Colton's Point and will honor Maryland's 375th birthday by showcasing only the finest Maryland jazz artists and Maryland seafood specialties!
Jazz artists include the Ruby Hayes Jazz & Blues Band at 4 pm, Smooth Jazz sax man Jaared at 6 pm, and the amazing jazz/R&B talents of Art Sherrod, Jr. at 8 pm.
This riverside event is presented by the Friends of the St. Clement's Island and Piney Point Museums and takes place on the lawn of the museum that overlooks historic St. Clement's Island, birthplace of Maryland. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will benefit museum education programs, projects, exhibits, and matching grants, among others.
Vendors include Lenny's Restaurant, Bear Creek Open Pit BBQ, Circle "C" Oyster Ranch, Hawaiian Joe's, and Bruster's Real Ice Cream serving up this year's Celebrate Maryland's 375 cake batter ice cream!
Tickets are $50 in advance, $45 for museum members, and $60 at the gate if available. Only 800 tickets are available and a sellout will leave no tickets for sale at the gate. All sales are final and there are no refunds or exchanges.
Ticket price includes free parking, admission to the museum and an optional boat excursion to St. Clement's Island where the newly-constructed replica of the Blackistone Lighthouse will be open for tours.
