LA PLATA, Md. (June 18, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On June 17 at 3:51 p.m., officers responded to 2965 Festival Way in Waldorf for the report of a strong-arm robbery. Investigation revealed the victim was putting bags into her car when the suspect ran up, grabbed her purse and fled to a car that was parked nearby. The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20's with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a red shirt and khaki shorts. The suspect vehicle is a white passenger car, possibly an Infiniti, with tinted windows and a Maryland Bay tag. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Officer K. Goddard is investigating.
OFFICERS OBSERVE ROBBERY IN PROGRESS AND ARREST SUSPECT: On June 16 at 9:37 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers were in the area of Smallwood Village in Waldorf when they observed a man pushing another man up against a wall in front of the Smallwood Village Liquor Store. The suspect was reaching toward the victim's pants pockets and the victim - a 67-year-old male - was attempting to fend off the suspect with his cane. The officers - who were in plain clothes - apprehended the suspect, Martin Lamont Key, 27, of Waldorf, and charged him with robbery. The victim was not injured. Officers P. Deboe is continuing the investigation.
