LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 10, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.
ARREST IN 2004 CPFCU ROBBERY: As a result of the ongoing BCI investigation into the August 2004 armed robbery of the Cedar Point Federal Credit Union in Leonardtown, detectives arrested Martha R. Thompson, age 25, of Lexington Park, on June 2 and charged her with being an accessory before and after the fact of an armed robbery. During the time of the crime Thompson was a bank employee and provided inside information to aid in the completion of the robbery. She is currently incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
TACKLE BOX BURGLARY: On June 9 at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers from the sheriff's office and the Maryland State Police responded to the Tackle Box store in Lexington Park for a burglar alarm. Investigation revealed that forced entry had been made by breaking through a rear wall and that several rifles had been removed. BCI responded and is currently investigating the incident. ARRESTS IN 2004 ROBBERY: On May 27, BCI Cold Case detectives closed an armed robbery, which occurred at a Mechanicsville residence in 2004. On the day of the incident, three armed suspects entered the victim's residence, bound the residents and stole several thousand dollars in U.S. Currency. Three suspects were indicted through the St. Mary's County Circuit Court. The suspects were identified as Hung Tam Lam, age 34, of Montgomery County, Maryland; Van Son Thai, age 37, of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and Tuan Minh Nguyen, age 30, of Howard County, Maryland. All three suspects were apprehended with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Montgomery County Police Department. They are currently incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
