LA PLATA, Md. (June 2, 2009) The Charles County Commissioners Monday announced a "strategically realignment" in the Charles County Government Television (CCGTV95) and Media Relations departments. The commissioners say the changes were made to manage communications efforts in a more efficient way and better serve the citizens.
Effective immediately, CCG-TV and Media Relations functions have been integrated into a single group, the Communications Division, under the County Administrators Office. As a result of this reorganization, three positions have been eliminated: Press Secretary, Media Relations Officer and Media Relations Assistant.
The realignment was part of the FY-2010 Budget, which was recently adopted.
When the Commissioners first took office in 2007, we announced that one of our goals was to develop a proactive communication strategy that would include coordinating media relations, Charles County Government Television (CCG-TV) and web content, noted County Commission President Wayne Cooper in a statement. "Due to the economy and budget constraints it was necessary that we move forward with this decision at this time."
