MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (June 2, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) Monday released the following incident and arrest reports.

CONCEALED DEADLY WEAPON: On May 31 at approximately 2250 hours TFC S. Murphy was patrolling northbound on U.S. Route 301, south of Mitchell Road when he observed a green Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed. TFC Murphy activated his radar unit and confirmed the vehicle was exceeding the posted speed limit of 55 mph. Contact was made with the driver, Matthew Louis Jones, 20, of Waldorf. TFC Murphy observed a large brown case in the vehicle. Jones advised it was a big knife. TFC Murphy removed the machete/knife from the case. Jones was arrested for having a concealed deadly weapon.
