MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 1, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, May 29 at 1:55 am, Ryan M. Edwards, 21, of Valley Lee was arrested by TFC E. Evans on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13932) for Failing to Follow Conditions of Probation - Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance - Not Marijuana. The warrant was issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on May 1, 2009. Mr. Edwards was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT OVER $500: On Friday, May 29 at 12:02 pm, TFC R. Rezza responded to the 27000 block of Old Village Road in Mechanicsville for the reported theft of heat pump and air conditioning units. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 47, of Mechanicsville who advised unknown suspect(s) stole a Carrier Heat Pump system model #25HCA324A003, serial #1606E27966, valued at $2,200 and a Carrier air conditioning unit, model #24ACA330A003, serial #1906E01255 valued at $2,000. Total loss is $4,200 and both units have been entering in NCIC. The investigation is ongoing.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: On Friday, May 29 at 4:01 pm, Tpr. M. Pitcher responded to the 24000 block of Hill Road in Hollywood the reported theft over $500 and malicious destruction of property to a motor vehicle. Tpr. Pitcher arrived and made contact with the female complainant, 26, of Hollywood. She advised between the hours of 10:30 pm on May 28, and 8:00 am on May 29, 2009, unknown suspect(s) damaged the complainant's 2001 brown Cadillac DeVille driver's side door and gained entry into the vehicle and stole an AT & T Blackberry Pearl cellular phone and $501 is cash. The investigation continues.

THEFT SCHEME OVER $500: On Friday, May 29 at 7:26 pm, Tiarra Lashelle Brooks, 24, of Lexington Park and Twannette Desalles Thomas, 18, of Lexington Park were arrested by TFC M. Adams for theft over $500.00. A 911 broadcast was made for a silver, older model Cadillac which was involved in a theft of merchandise from Giant Store in First Colony Shopping Center. TFC Adams located the vehicle south bound Three Notch Road and initiated a traffic stop south of Mercedes Drive in California. Ms. Brooks and Ms. Thomas were found to be in possession of $404.80 of stolen merchandise from JC Penny's Store, $292.03 from the Target Store, $12.99 from Payless Shoes and $91.10 in food from the Giant Store. A total amount of $806.92 in merchandise was stolen. Both Ms. Brooks and Ms. Thomas were issued No Trespass Notices for each of the stores. They were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT OF CELL PHONE: On Saturday, May 30 at 7:45 pm, TFC M. Adams responded to the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for the reported theft under $500. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 16, of Lexington Park. She advised she left her cell phone in the office and when she went to get the cell phone it was missing from the office. The cell phone, a red LG Envy 2, serial #A60C699500 was valued at $300. The cell phone has been entered into NCIC and the investigation continues.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, May 30 at 9:05 pm, Mark Douglas Riddle, 50, of Waldorf was arrested by Tpr. J. Hardesty on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13967) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on May 26, 2009. The original charge was DWI. Mr. Riddle was apprehended in Charles County and transferred to St. Mary's County where he was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Sunday, May 31 at 1:24 am, Tpr. J. Gibson responded to the 38000 block of Cobrums Wharf Road in Avenue for the reported check welfare. Upon arrival, Tpr. Gibson made contact with the male complainant, 31, Avenue. He advised he was assaulted by Shannon Lynn Massey, 31, of Avenue. Both parties were interviewed and Ms. Massey was taken into custody. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On Sunday, May 31 at 6:45 pm, Tpr. E. Page responded to the Leonardtown Barrack and made contact with the 31 year-old female complainant. She reported she loaned her white 1999 Ford commercial box truck, Maryland registration to Jeremy Patrick Via, 38, of Colonial Beach, Va. on May 23, 2009. He was taking the vehicle to his residence to clean the vehicle and has not been heard from since. A broadcast has been made in an attempt to locate the vehicle. The vehicle has been entered in NCIC and the investigation continues.
