MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (May 28, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On May 26 at approximately 2024 hours, Trooper A. Smith was patrolling the area of U.S. Route 301 and Balsum Run Road when he observed a vehicle with dark tinted windows. He stopped the vehicle and contact was made with Bernard Patrick Cole Jr., age 30 of Forestville. Trooper Smith detected a strong odor of marijuana. Cole was arrested and charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia; possess/distribute to marijuana controlled paraphernalia to wit: plastic baggies in sufficient quantity to indicate an intention to use such item for illegal manufacture/distribution/dispensing; and did unlawfully possess a controlled dangerous substance marijuana.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On May 28 at approximately 0109 hours, Trooper B. Sorenson was patrolling the area of southbound U.S. Route 301, north of Vernon Road when he observed the driver, Mark Allan Buckler, age 37 of North Beach, driving a white Toyota Corolla and not restrained by a seat belt. Trooper Sorenson stopped the vehicle; detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Buckler’s breath. Buckler was arrested and charged with DUI, numerous traffic violations, possession of a controlled dangerous substance cocaine; possession of a controlled dangerous substance marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
