LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 22, 2008)—Charles County Commissioner President Wayne Cooper was recently recognized for his service as a member of the Governor-appointed Attainment Report (AR) on Transportation System Performance Advisory Committee.
As a member of the Advisory Committee, Cooper worked under the leadership of Maryland Secretary of Transportation, John D. Pocari, assisting in identifying new performance measures that link Maryland's transportation agencies to the Maryland Transportation Plan's (MTP) goals and objectives.
The 14-member committee were given the task of establishing a 20-year vision for transportation in the State through multi-modal goals and objectives that create a world-class transportation system that will support a vibrant economy, and enhance the quality of life in Maryland.
The Attainment Report used performance measures and targets to access progress not only towards the MTP goals and objectives, but also the delivery of an overall Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP).
The Advisory Committee's report specifically focused on increasing the quality of service to customers, promoting safety and security, identifying system preservation and performance measures, recognizing environmental stewardship and promoting smart growth for future generations.
