St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 17, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT SECOND DEGREE: On December 13, 2008 at 1:14 a.m., deputies responded to the Sea Breeze Restaurant in Sandgates for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed Christopher M. King, age 35, of Leonardtown, struck the victim in the face following a verbal dispute. King exited the business, then returned and began throwing bar stools inside the establishment. King was subsequently detained until deputies arrived. King was placed under arrest, charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On December 15, 2008 at 10:05 p.m., Dfc. M. George initiated a vehicle stop on Md. Rt. 5 in Leonardtown for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle Dfc. George detected a strong odor on marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Christopher M. Hurley, age 19, of Leonardtown was placed under arrest, charged with Possession of CDS and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT, POSSESSION OF HANDGUN: On December 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault which occurred in a parking lot in Leonardtown. Investigation revealed Amy D. Epperson, age 37, of Leonardtown, approached the victim's vehicle and began striking the vehicle window with her fist. Epperson then returned to her vehicle, retrieved a handgun, pointed it at the victim then struck the window of the victim's vehicle with the barrel of the handgun while threatening the victim. Epperson then returned to her vehicle and fled the scene. Dfc. Harrison observed the vehicle and initiated a vehicle stop. The handgun, a .25 caliber Silver Bauer, was recovered from Epperson's vehicle and she was determined to be intoxicated. Epperson was placed under arrest, charged with Assault First Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Driving While Intoxicated / Impaired and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Additional charges are pending following a review with the State's Attorney's Office.

ROBBERY ARREST: On December 16th, BCI detectives arrested Mark Travis Grove, 25, of Mechanicsville, for the November 26 armed robbery of the Mechanicsville Burchmart, as well as four thefts from motor vehicles and an ATV theft which all occurred in the Country Lakes area of Mechanicsville between November 23rd and 25th. Grove was charged with Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault, Theft, and Theft Scheme. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
