LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 11, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Dec. 11 at 1:39 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to 4760 Bryantown Road in La Plata for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed the driver of a Toyota Scion, Frank Richard Jones, 20, of Waldorf, was traveling east on Bryantown Road when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole and a tree. The front seat passenger, Christopher James Wright, 26, of La Plata, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Cpl. D. Belfield is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 10 at 9:24 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Racquet Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed sometime between 5:20 a.m. and 9:20 p.m., unknown individuals broke a rear window to the victim's residence, gained entry and stole two flat panel televisions and a DVD player. Officer J. Feldman is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On Dec. 10 at 10: 05 a.m., members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Squad were working a burglary prevention assignment when they observed a suspicious vehicle in the 2600 block of Hatteras Circle in Waldorf. As officers approached the car, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Officers found approximately 24 glassine baggies of marijuana inside the vehicle and arrested the driver, Kwasi Omatago Louard-Clarke, 22, of Waldorf. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Officer J. Jones made the arrest.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN ASSAULTS: On Dec. 10 at 3:36 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Charles Street near Gilbert Run Park for the report of an assault in progress. Investigation revealed the victims called 911 and said they were in a car that was being chased by another car in which the occupants repeatedly pointed a handgun at them. As officers arrived in the area, they observed a car matching the suspect's vehicle turn on Cuyler Place. Officers initiated a traffic stop and found a pellet gun and a mask inside the car. The suspects, James Robert Weimert, 20, of no fixed address, Robert Aaron Almond, 23, of La Plata, Leroy Antoine Savoy, 18, of La Plata and Tyronne Anthony Matthews, Jr., 18, of La Plata, were arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Weimert, the driver, was charged with multiple traffic violations. Officer M. DePaulo is investigating.

WANTED FUGITIVE: The CCSO is seeking the public's help in locating Kevin Thomas Sholes, 23, of Hollywood, MD who is wanted for five open warrants including charges of forgery, uttering, theft less than $500, second-degree assault, and fourth- degree sex offense. Sholes is a white male, 5'4", 170 pounds. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call (301) 932-2222 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
