MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 1, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:05 am, John Edward Butler, Jr., 33, of Mechanicsville, was arrested by Tpr. C. Evans for possession of marijuana. Mr. Butler was operating a black Chevrolet Suburban when he was stopped for a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, Mr. Butler, and a moderate odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Butler was found to be in possession of a metal grinder containing marijuana. Mr. Butler was issued a criminal citation and was released at the scene with a preliminary inquiry date.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Monday, November 24, 2008 at 3:42 pm, Marcel Damien Chase, 23, of Mechanicsville, was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for possession of marijuana. Mr. Chase was operating a white Buick Park Avenue on Three Notch Road, in the area of Chancellors Run Road in California when he was stopped for not having a child restrained by a seat belt. Contact was made with Mr. Chase and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emanating from inside the vehicle. Mr. Chase was found to be in possession of a partially burnt marijuana cigar. Mr. Chase was placed under arrest and taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Monday, November 24, 2008 at 4:47 pm, Tpr. E. Page responded to the 20000 block of Dukehearts Court in Coltons Point for the reported domestic assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 47, of Coltons Point who advised she was assaulted by Donald William McGrath, 39, of Coltons Point. After interviewing both parties, Mr. McGrath was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Thursday, November 27, 2008 at 3:39 pm, Sergio Domonique Kentish, 18, of Accokeek, was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for possession of marijuana. Mr. Kentish was a passenger in a silver Cadillac CTS when it was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit on Coltons Point Road, in the area of Budds Creek Road in Clements. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Kentish was found to be in possession of a plastic baggie of marijuana with rolling papers. Mr. Kentish was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Friday, November 28, 2008 at 12:05 am, Carl Alexander Carroll, 29, of California, was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for domestic assault. Tpr. J. Pilkerton responded to the 23000 block of Surrey Way in California for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 25, of California, who advised she was assaulted by Mr. Carroll. After interviewing both parties, Mr. Carroll was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault 2nd degree. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

FUGITIVE ARREST: On Friday, November 28, 2008 at 11:29 pm, Tpr. M. Koock responded to the reported fight in progress in the 21000 block of Port View Circle in Leonardtown. Upon arrival, Tpr Koock made contact with several individuals. It was concluded that no fight actually took place. Contact was also made with Casey Michael Kohn, 25, of Lexington Park. A routine NCIC check revealed Mr. Kohn having an active warrant through Virginia Beach for violation of parole, DWI, eluding police and malicious destruction of property. Mr. Kohn was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a extradition back to Virginia Beach.

PRESCRIPTION FRAUD: On Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 3:12 pm, Cpl. J. Linger responded to the St John's Pharmacy for the reported prescription fraud. Cpl. Linger made contact with a Pharmacy employee who identified Patricia Dawn Merrill, 46, of Lexington Park, who was standing at the door of the pharmacy. She also advised Ms. Merrill was in company with John Thomas Merrill, 47, of California, who had left the pharmacy after dropping off a fraudulent prescription for methadone. Ms. Merrill was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was charged with attempting to obtain a drug by fraud. TFC Rezza located Mr. Merrill a short time later and took Mr. Merrill into custody and transported him to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with attempting to obtain a drug by fraud and uttering a forged prescription. A routine check of NCIC revealed John Merrill also had an outstanding bench warrant through MSP Prince Frederick. Both subjects were held at the Detention Center pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 9:13 pm, Sean Christopher McCamman, 19, of Mechanicsville, was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. McCamman was operating a blue Nissan 240SX on southbound Point Lookout Road north, of Budds Creek Road in Leonardtown. He was stopped for following a vehicle too close. Contact was made with Mr. McCamman and was later found to be in possession of a glass CDS smoking device with marijuana. Mr. McCamman was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:00 am, Devone Articis Hall, 20, of Chaptico was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger on an outstanding arrest warrant (T3-13637) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on October 7, 2008. The original charge was Resist/Interfere with Arrest. Mr. Hall was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, November 24, 2008 at 6:05 pm, Zachery David Lawrence, 21, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13707) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on November 7, 2008. The original charge was Speeding and Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Lawrence was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 8:04 pm, John Davidson Justice, Jr., 23, of Hollywood was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for violation of a protection order. Mr. Justice was served an arrest warrant (T3-13724) for Violation of a Protection Order which was issued on March 9, 2008 by the District Court in Leonardtown. Mr. Justice was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
