LA PLATA, Md. (Nov. 10, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT: On Nov. 9 at 2:53 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Pro-Audio located at 2415 Crain Highway in Waldorf after a citizen reported seeing a man attempting to force entry into the business through a back door. When officers arrived, the suspect attempted to flee but Officer M. Davidson and his K9 partner quickly apprehended him. The suspect was identified as Eddie Diablo Otts, 33, of Salisbury, Md. Officers discovered damage to the rear door and recovered burglar’s tools from the scene. Otts was charged with attempted second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property valued at more than $500 and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. BURGLARY: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary which occurred sometime between Oct. 10 and Nov. 8 at a residence in the 3800 block of Helwig Farm Road in Nanjemoy. The suspect(s) pried open a basement window, entered the residence and stole money. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-743-2222 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Officer S. Davis is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On Nov. 7 at 5:18 a.m., the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s Community Policing (COPS) Unit, Emergency Services Team and K9 Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4300 block of Rock Court in Waldorf. The warrant was executed as the result of an investigation that began when neighborhood residents reported drug activity to the COPS Unit. Officers recovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia and arrested three residents — Darlene Watts Jordan, 52, Byron Scott Jordan, Jr., 20, and David Christopher Jordan, 19. The Jordans were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a district court commissioner. Officer C. Caldwell investigated.

ASSAULT: On Nov. 5 at 1 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Cpl. C. McCue was stopped by a citizen who reported seeing a man and a woman arguing on Pearson Drive near Route 5 in Waldorf. Cpl. McCue responded to the location and observed a man arguing with a woman in a vehicle. As Cpl. McCue began to investigate, the woman drove forward and struck the man with her car. The woman was arrested, charged with first-degree assault and transported to the Charles County Detention Center, where she was being held pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Investigation revealed she and the man have a domestic relationship. The man refused medical attention. Officer D. Harrison handled the arrest.
