MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 10, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 1:46 am, Paul William Barton, 49, of Lusby was arrested by TFC R. Rezza for possession of a CDS smoking device containing cocaine and marijuana. Mr. Barton was operating a white Chevrolet when he was stopped for an equipment violation on southbound Point Lookout Road at Hollywood Road in Leonardtown. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Barton's driving privileges are suspended and he was placed under arrest. A CDS smoking device was observed in plain view in the vehicle. Mr. Barton was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

DOP: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 1:39 pm, Tpr. M. Adams responded to the 26000 block of Coombs Oak Way in Mechanicsville for the reported malicious destruction of property over $500.00. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 53, of Mechanicsville, who advised unknown suspects scratched the paint to the left rear and right front doors on his white Chrysler 300. The scratches were deep enough to expose the bare metal on the doors. Estimated damage is $2,000.00. The investigation continues.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:44 pm, Joshua Grant Wolthers, 18, of Mechanicsville and a 17 year-old male juvenile, of Mechanicsville, were arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia and possession of an alcoholic beverage. The male juvenile was operating a blue Chevrolet Cavalier on Mechanicsville Road, in the area of Lawrence Hayden Road, in Mechanicsville when he was stopped for an equipment violation. Upon contact with the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage and burnt marijuana were emitting from the vehicle. Both Mr. Wolthers and the male juvenile were found to be in possession of marijuana. Bud Light beer and a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey were found on the rear floor of the vehicle. Both subjects were transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where they were processed. The juvenile charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia and possession of an alcoholic beverage as a minor. He was later released to his sister pending further action from Juvenile Services. Mr. Wolthers was later transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly for the possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. He was issued a civil citation for the possession of an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21. He was held at the Detention Center pending a bond review.

BURGLARY: On Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 5:50 pm, Tpr. C. Evans responded to the 30000 block of White Drive in Charlotte Hall for the reported first degree burglary. Contact was made with the female complainant, 44, of Charlotte Hall, who advised unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through a window between the hours of 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm and stole an estimated $1,090.00 in jewelry and a Playstation 2 console and video games. The jewelry was described as a gold and pink Cameo broach, valued at $50.00, a women's Timex gold plated watch with diamonds, valued at $450.00, a women's silver plated Timex watch, valued at $100.00 and a women's gold plated Timex watch, valued at $250.00. The investigation continues.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 8:00 am, Gerald Mathew Williams, 29, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. E. Page on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13636) for failing to appear in district court in Leonardtown on October 7, 2008. The original charges were DWI/DUI. Mr. Williams was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review. A second bench warrant (T3-13606) for failing to appear in district court on September 5, 2008 was served by Tpr. W. Jefferson at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. The original charges were for DWI/DUI.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 10:10 am, Calverio Terrill Somerville, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by Cpl. A. Malaspina on an outstanding circuit court warrant (T3-13623) for failing to appear in circuit court on September 19, 2008. The original charge was for possession of marijuana. Mr. Somerville was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 4:19 pm, Cory Lee Miller was arrested by Tpr. M. Koock on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13577) for failing to appear in district court in Leonardtown on August 20, 2008. The original charge was assault 2nd degree. A second bench warrant (T3-13632) was served for failing to appear in district court on October 2, 2008 by Tpr. M. Koock. Mr. Miller was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 8:15 pm, Michael Anthony Green, 31, of Great Mills was arrested by TFC J. Stern on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-11745) for failing to appear in district court in Leonardtown on October 6, 2005. The original charge was assault 2nd degree. Mr. Green was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:15 am, Ernest Charles Mincey, 31, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC R. Rezza on an outstanding circuit court true bill indictment (T3-13122) which was issued on October 26, 2007. Mr. Mincey was extradited from Alabama. The original charge was being involved in a personal injury accident while driving under the influence. Mr. Mincey was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, November 7, 2008 at 3:00 pm, Steven Maurice Grove, 44, of Frederick was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton on a circuit court true bill indictment issued by the Circuit Court in Leonardtown on November 7, 2008. The original charge was assault 1st degree. Mr. Grove was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 7:05 am, Larry M. Thomas, 24, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. E. Page on an outstanding true bill indictment (T3-13696) for first degree burglary. Mr. Thomas was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 7:07 am, Charles Rodger Wathen, 27, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko on an outstanding true bill indictment (T3-12697) for first degree burglary. Mr. Wathen was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 8:00 am, Gwan Ball, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on an outstanding true bill indictment (T3-13695) for first degree burglary. Mr. Ball was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
