Man Dies After Altercation Outside Club, Two Charged

LA PLATA, Md. (Oct. 29, 2008)—Joshua Matthew Gregor, 25, of La Plata, died at Prince George's Hospital Center Monday from injuries he received during an assault outside a Waldorf bar early Saturday morning. Justin Burch Ferrall, 30, and Brian Anthony Hickman, 28, both of St. Mary's County, have been charged with the initial assault.

On Oct. 25 at 2 a.m., Gregor was in the parking lot of Don Savino's Bar and Grill located at 2427 Crain Highway in Waldorf when he was approached by Ferrall and Hickman who struck him several times in the head, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Gregor fell to the ground and lost consciousness. He was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center where he was admitted with life threatening injuries.

The suspects, Ferrall and Hickman, fled but were arrested a short distance away, say police. Both men were charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Gregor subsequently died from his injuries and was pronounced deceased by doctors at PGH on Monday, Oct. 27.

Today, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore performed an autopsy and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and a case review by the State's Attorney's Office.

Police say it is still not clear what happened during the initial contact between the victim and the suspects. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this case to call them at (301) 609-6497. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
