LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 28, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On October 27, at 8:59 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Norris Street in Leonardtown for the report of a disturbance. An investigation by Deputy Campbell revealed a physical altercation had occurred between two subjects. The suspect, a 17 year-old juvenile, bit her mother on the back during the altercation. The juvenile then obtained an umbrella and threw it into a wall causing damage to the wall. The juvenile was arrested and charged with assault 2nd degree and property destruction under $500 and released pending further action by juvenile authorities.
SEX OFFENDER HALLOWEEN SWEEP: On October 29, 30 and 31, Bureau of Criminal Investigations detectives, Sheriff's Office Patrol deputies and St. Mary's Department of Parole and Probation agents will be conducting registered sex offender checks throughout St. Mary's County to ensure that sex offenders, who are on probation, are compliant with Maryland rules that require they not decorate their homes, or hand out candy for Halloween. In addition, they must post a sign at their home which indicates there is no candy available at that location.
PROSTITUTION: An undercover vice-narcotics detective encountered Melody Lynn Bowen, 42, of Lexington Park, on Great Mills Road. Suspect Bowen offered a sex act for money. She was arrested and charged with one count of prostitution.
