LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 26, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office on Friday released the following incident and arrest report.
FALSE STATEMENT TO A POLICE OFFICER: On October 23 at approximately 7:00 a.m., John Richard Kolakowski, 50, of California, Md. reported a 2001 Ford Windstar stolen from the parking lot of the Foxchase apartments on Foxchase Drive in California. The apartment complex is equipped with video surveillance. Video tapes were reviewed and show John Kolakowski driving his 2001 Ford Windstar from the Foxchase parking lot on October 22 at approximately 11:00 p.m. and not returning. When questioned further about the theft, Mr. Kolakowski admitted to lying about the motor vehicle theft. Further investigation revealed Kolakowski was involved in a hit and run accident on Chancellor's Run Road in the early morning hours of October 23. Kolakowski was arrested and charge with making a false report of a crime to a police officer.
