(Oct. 20, 2008)—Kyle Olsen, a second-year teacher at the Robert D. Stedhem Educational Center in Pomfret, Charles County, participated in the National Agricultural Hazardous Occupations Order (AgHOs) focus group at Purdue University on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 and Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.
Olsen was invited by AgHOs due to his experience working with youth and conducting agricultural safety programs. He is CPH certified (certified professional horticulturist) and is a strong advocate of HOSTA (national tractor safety certification). Last spring Olson established a new FFA student leadership chapter at Stedhem.
The goal of gathering select agricultural instructors, extension educators and volunteers from across the country was to discuss issues related to agricultural safety and tractor certification for youth.
