LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Calvert Neighbors for Sensible Redistricting (CNSR) proudly endorses Bill Chambers, Rose Crunkleton, and Tracy McGuire for the three vacancies on the school board. CNSR represents numerous families who have elementary children attending various schools in the county. CNSR is proud of our school system and firmly believe our schools need some new ideas and solid leadership to get back on track. Our teachers and principals are some of the finest in the country and the candidates will support these professionals.
McGuire, Crunkleton, and Chambers each represent what every Calvert County citizen wants in their elected leaders. All three candidates believe in open and transparent government. As elected officials they each pledge to be responsive to citizens. They understand that citizens deserve to have their voices heard and are owed a professional response to concerns. Above all else, Bill, Tracy and Rose understand their primary responsibility is our children’s education while supporting teachers and staff.
CNSR was shocked to learn that Barstow Elementary will send Calvert Elementary Schools to an enrollment average below 80% capacity. Some schools are at 65% capacity, 65% capacity and another at 55% for enrollment capacity. Two of those schools were part of the redistricting conducted last spring. Two other schools involved in the redistricting are back over 100% capacity and greeted new students with trailers. We need Bill’s 30 years of multi-million dollar budget experience, Rose’s extensive legal experience and Tracy’s PTA experience as both a member and a past president.
Its time we put candidates on the school board who have a stake in making our schools better. Each of these candidates has children attending our public schools. This tells us they believe in our schools and we should believe in them. CNSR strongly encourages everyone to “Hire McGuire,” “Pick” Rose Crunkleton, and “Check” Chambers on Nov 4th for Sensible School Board Leadership.
