ANNAPOLIS, Md. A Waldorf man won top prize in the 2008 Maryland Natural Resource Magazine Photo Contest. Milton Tierney took overall top honors with his photograph
Resting Dragonfly, the winner of the invertebrates category. Tierny also had a top winner in the Scenic category.
More than 300 photographers entered close to 1,500 photographs into this years contest, which featured photo categories for the first time.
There were five additional first place winners in the 2008 contest, including Jennifer Figgins of College Park, Md. who took top honors in the Outdoor Recreation category; Rosedale Yannayon of Hollywood, Md., who took top honors in the Mammals category; Donna Tolbert-Anderson of Easton, Md. who took top honors in the Birds category and John Seay of Baltimore, Md., who took top honors in the Wild plants category.
Second place winners included Edward Lowe of Colora, Md.; Michael Eversmier of Cockeysville, Md.; Sharon Pyle of Arnold, Md.; Sabine Dickens of Montgomery Village, Md.; Larry Hitchens of Easton, Md., and Robert Ramirez of Bowie, Md.
Winners received a total of $1,250 in prizes from Boaters World Marine Centers and Ritz Camera, and the winning photos will appear in the Winter issue of the Maryland Natural Resource Magazine, as well as the 2009 DNR calendar.
