Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Oct. 15, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: Sometime between October 4 and 12, unknown suspect(s) stole a $1,500 two wheel blue and white dolly from the yard area of a home on Lazy River Road in Lusby. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC Moises Velasquez at 410-535-2800.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: While conducting a traffic stop on October 7 at 10:42 a.m. on Armory Road in Prince Frederick, Dep. April Litteral found the driver, later identified as Leigh James Sturgeon, 21, of Glen Burnie, to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, a blue glass smoking device containing suspected burnt marijuana residue.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: While conducting a routine traffic stop on Ferry Landing Road at West Ward Road in Dunkirk on October 10 at 1:20 a.m., Dep. James Norton detected a strong odor of burning marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Duane Timothy Jones, 19, of Dunkirk, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, a cigar blunt (hollowed out and filled with marijuana for the purpose of inhaling), a razor blade (used to cut open the cigar blunts). He was charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia to inhale a controlled dangerous substance of marijuana.

ASSAULT, FALSE IMPRISONMENT: Dep. Thomas Rickard responded to a disorderly call at a home on Breezy Point Road in Chesapeake Beach on October 10 at 8:20 p.m. A homeowner, brandishing a knife, was keeping two of his friends from leaving the home stating that they had stolen from him. The items the man accused the two of stealing were actually still inside the home. Richard Machen Alley, 49, of Chesapeake Beach, was taken into custody and charged with second degree assault, false imprisonment, and disorderly conduct.

DOP: A vehicle that was parked outside the Greene Turtle Bar and Grille in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center had the front drivers' side window smashed out. Dep. Jason Dean investigated the call and the victim advised that sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 8:22 p.m. on October 12, unknown suspect(s) had done the damage. Nothing was missing from inside the vehicle.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: Dep. Jason Dean investigated a theft outside the Domino's Pizza in Lusby on October 12 at 8:50 p.m. The victim advised that she had parked her car outside the Domino's at about 8:40 p.m. and gone inside the establishment. When she returned approximately 7 minutes later, the drivers' side front window was broken out. Her bright pink purse and its' contents, valued at $50, a Garmin GPS, valued at $200 and a LG Venus cell phone worth $350, were taken from inside the vehicle. The damage was valued at $500. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Dean at 410-535-2800.
