LA PLATA, Md. (Oct. 9, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED ROBBERY: On Oct. 9 at 2:17 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 7-Eleven on Smallwood Drive East in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed two masked men entered the store, approached a clerk, discharged a round from a handgun, and demanded cash. The clerk complied and the suspects fled on foot. A K-9 track led to a nearby residential neighborhood, but a suspect was not located. Anyone with information about this case should call Detective S. Fetterolf at (301) 609-6497. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN STOLEN VEHICLE: On Oct. 8 at 1:17 a.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer initiated a traffic stop on Crain Highway near Route 5 in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled toward Berry Road. The driver lost control of his car, hit a curb and struck a police car. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot but were apprehended a short distance away. A computer check revealed the car had just been stolen from Waldorf. The two suspects, 17 - year - old males from Waldorf, were charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and remanded to Cheltenham. Corporal D. Byrd handled the arrest.

MAN CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT: On Oct. 4 at 3:20 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 11300 block of Stoney Cove Drive in Waldorf for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed the suspect was inside his residence arguing with two friends when he threatened to kill the men with a knife. One of the victims wrestled the knife away from the suspect but suffered a minor cut on his hand during the altercation. Officers arrested Derek Connell Allen, 42, of Waldorf, and charged him with first degree assault.
