MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 9, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On Monday, October 6, 2008, Tpr. M. Adams responded to the 38000 block of Lavender Lane in Mechanicsville for a reported theft from motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 20, of Mechanicsville, who advised unknown suspect(s) broke into her red Mazda between October 4, 2008 at 10:00 pm and October 5, 2008 at 2:00 am. The suspect(s) stole a Hewlett Packard laptop and case valued at $2,100.00 and $20.00 in cash. There was no damage to her vehicle. The investigation continues.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 2:37 am, Rodger Glen Eschinger, 55, of Upper Marlboro was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for possession of cocaine. Mr. Eschinger was operating a green Ford F-150 on Three Notch Road in the area of Hollywood Road in Hollywood when he was stopped for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Eschinger was arrested for DWI/DUI. A search incident to the arrest revealed Mr. Eschinger was in possession of a homemade CDS smoking device with cocaine. Mr. Eschinger was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:50 pm, Allen Leonard Morgan, 45, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. J. Gibson on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13578) for Violation of Probation issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on August 20, 2008. The original charges are Failing to pay fines, costs, and restitution as ordered by the Court. Mr. Morgan is being held on $810.00 bond. Mr. Morgan is also wanted through the Home Detention Unit in Baltimore. The charges are Escape 2nd Degree and Theft under $500. Mr. Morgan is being detained in the St. Mary's County Detention pending transfer to the Home Detention Unit.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 11:30 pm, Charles Wade Simpson, 66, of California was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams for hindering and interfering with the arrest of his son, Brian Edward Simpson, 35, of California. When Troopers arrived at the residence in the 44000 block of St. Andrews Lane in California in an attempt to locate Brian Simpson, he was observed exiting the living room and going up a set of fold down stairs leading into the attic. Brian Simpson was located in the attic and was arrested by Tpr. Adams on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13621) for failing to appear in District Court in Prince Frederick on September 8, 2008. The original charges were possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both Charles and Brian Simpson were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were charged accordingly.

WARRANT ARREST: On October 6, 2008 at 5:05 am, Francis Xavier Thomas, 25, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC M. Moore on an outstanding bench warrant for violation of probation. The original charge was possession of marijuana. Mr. Thomas was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Monday, October 6, 2008 at 11:15 am, Andrew Lee Sewell, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. E. Page on an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-13620) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on September 21, 2008. The original charge was assault 2nd degree. Mr. Sewell was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On October 6, 2008 at 8:30 pm, Derrick Anthony Ewing, 22, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13599) for failing to appear in District Court in Leonardtown on August 29, 2008. The original charge was driving on a suspended license. Mr. Ewing was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.
