Juveniles Charged in Molotov Cocktail Incident

LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 30, 2008)—Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged two La Plata juveniles in connection with the manufacturing and discharge of a Molotov cocktail. The twelve and thirteen year-old male juveniles were determined to have been responsible as a result of the investigation.

The incident occurred on September 29 at approximately 7 p.m. near the intersection of Norfolk Drive and Cornwall Court. No damage or injuries were reported.

Investigators acted on a tip submitted to the local Crime Solvers at the juvenile’s school by another student. A Charles County Sheriff’s Deputy working as a school resource officer assisted with the tip.

Both juveniles were taken into custody this afternoon and subsequently released to their parents pending further action by the Department of Juvenile Services. They have been charged with the manufacturing and discharge of a destructive device.
