MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Sept. 18, 2008) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On Sept. 8 at 12:36 am, Trooper Haut responded to a residence on Wilson Road in Huntingtown for a reported burglary. Unknown suspects entered the victim's residence and removed sections of copper piping. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Sept. 9 at 4:24 am, Trooper Merkelson was attempting to serve a summons in Prince Frederick. Timothy Avant Jr., 20, of Prince Frederick, was found to have an open warrant and was placed under arrest. A search revealed a plastic baggie containing marijuana and 5 ecstasy pills. Avant was transported to the Prince Frederick Barrack for processing and later incarcerated in the Calvert County Detention Center.

THEFT: Trooper Wiersma is investigating a theft of rings from a residence on Flower Lane in Huntingtown. Two rings were stolen from the victim's residence sometime between 7/9/08 and 8/19/08. Both rings are valued at approximately $1000 each. One ring is gold with diamond chips and the band is cut on the bottom. The second ring is silver with a large blue stone. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

THEFT: Trooper First Class Stein responded to Gordon Drive in Sunderland for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. Sometime during the night on Sept. 9, a vehicle was entered and the following items were stolen: one black "Belkin" MP3 player FM converter; two rolls of quarters; One large black "Mag Light" flashlight. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

BURGLARY: On Sept. 12 at 10:48 am, Trooper Roby responded to 7th Day Adventist Church on Broomes Island Road in Port Republic for a report of a burglary that occurred the previous night. An exterior door was forced open and another interior door was also forced open. Nothing was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

STOLEN VEHICLE: On Sept. 12 at 7:25 pm, Trooper Laziuck took a report of a stolen vehicle from the Sunderland Park and Ride. The victim's Honda Accord was stolen from the parking lot during the day while the victim was at work. During the investigation, a stolen vehicle was located abandoned in the space next to where the victim's vehicle had been parked. The vehicle was towed and processed for evidence. Later that evening, the victim's Honda Accord was located in Prince George's County and the occupants were arrested. Anyone who observes suspicious activity at any of the county park and rides is asked to contact the Maryland State Police immediately at (410) 535-1400 or you may dial #77 on your cell phone which will connect you to the nearest State Police Barrack free of charge.
