MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 8, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On Monday, September 1, 2008 at 8:00 am, Tpr. N. Gresko responded to the 22000 block of Iverson Drive in Great Mills for the reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 19, of Great Mills. She advised unknown suspect(s) stole a 1999 Accura Integra. The vehicle has 17" wheels, tinted windows, loud exhaust and a primer gray front bumper. The vehicle was taken on September 1st between the hours of 1:30 am and 7:30 am. The vehicle has been entered into NCIC and the investigation continues.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 2:56 am, TFC R. Rezza responded to the 26000 block of Woodridge Drive in Mechanicsville for a reported domestic assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 50, of Mechanicsville. She advised she was assaulted by Darnel William Talbert, 48, of Mechanicsville. Later that morning the District Court Commissioner issued an Arrest Warrant (T3-13598) for Mr. Talbert's arrest. Mr. Talbert responded to the Leonardtown Barrack and was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he appeared before the District Court Commissioner.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 1:10 pm, Emily Nadine Vecere, 35, of Roanoke, Va. was arrested by Tpr. E. Page for possession of prescription medication not prescribed to her. Ms. Vecere was operating a silver Lexus IS350 on Three Notch Road in the area of Persimmon Creek Road in Mechanicsville when she was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine MVA check was made through Virginia which revealed her driving privileges were Suspended. Ms. Vecere was arrested and taken into custody. A search incident to the arrest revealed she was in possession of numerous Valium pills not prescribed to her. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, DOP: On Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00 pm, Jerrell Lamont Purcell, 22, of St. Pauls, NC was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for Disorderly Conduct. Tpr. Gresko responded to the Burger King in Charlotte Hall to assist with a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, contact was made with Mr. Purcell, who was intoxicated and banging on the front door of the establishment. Mr. Purcell was yelling profanities. He was escorted back to his room at the Charlotte Hall Motel while continuing to yell profanities. Mr. Purcell was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review. While at the Charlotte Hall Motel contact was made with James Anthony Jackson, 30, of Tarheel, NC who was arrested by Tpr. J. Gibson for malicious destruction of property. Tpr. Gibson was informed by Mr. Purcell that Mr. Jackson broke the window to their room and cut Mr. Purcell with the broken glass in an earlier disturbance. Mr. Jackson was also taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, September 5, 2008 at 1:35 am, Rayshawn Joel Baldwin, 28, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko on an outstanding Fugitive from Justice Warrant through the U.S. Marshals Service. Mr. Baldwin provided a false name to avoid apprehension and was taken into custody and fingerprinted at the Leonardtown Barrack. The fingerprints were forwarded to the FBI where he was positively identified as Mr. Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being detained pending extradition by the U.S. Marshal's office.

WARRANT ARREST: On Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 5:35 pm, Christy Marie Lowe, 31, of Lexington Park was served a Fugitive from Justice Warrant at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was being held on unrelated charges for Domestic Assault. The fugitive warrant is through Uniontown, PA for obtaining food stamps fraudulently. She is being detained in the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending extradition back to Pennsylvania.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 8:27 pm, Wendy A. Short, 18, of Chaptico was arrested by Cpl. S. Bennett on an outstanding bench warrant (T3-13605) for failing to appear in district court in Leonardtown on August 29, 2008. The original charge was Driving While Suspended. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, September 5, 2008 at 2:55 am, James Anthony Tippett, 20, no fixed address was arrested by Tpr. E. Page on an arrest warrant (T3-13590) which was issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on August 20, 2008. The original charges were driving on a suspended and revoked license and fleeing and eluding a police officer. Mr. Tippett was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Friday, September 5, 2008 at 9:15 am, Rayshawn Joel Baldwin, 28, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. C. Evans on an outstanding arrest warrant (T3-13608) which was issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on September 5, 2008. The original charge was possession of marijuana. Mr. Baldwin was already incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
