Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Sept. 8, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: A home on Perrywood Lane in Dunkirk was burglarized by unknown suspect(s) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on September 2. The victim advised DFC Paul Wood that $5500 in property was stolen, to include a 34 inch Panasonic plasma TV, a diamond ring, a Sony Camcorder and other electronic items. Three hundred dollars in damage was done to the home as well. The Criminal Investigative Team will handle the investigation.

BURGLARY: On September 2 at 1:58 p.m. DFC Mark Robshaw responded to a home on Uncle Charlies Spur in Dunkirk for an activated alarm call. DFC Robshaw observed that the home had been broken into. The homeowner arrived on the scene and advised that it appeared that a 32 inch Samsung Wide LCD TV and a Dell laptop computer, together valued at over $3000, were missing. CIT will assume the investigation.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: After conducting a traffic stop on Thunderbird Drive in Lusby on September 2 at 10:12 p.m., Dep. Robert Traas found two occupants of the vehicle to be in possession of suspected CDS and drug paraphernalia. Arrested was Shavenson J. Johnson, 38 of Port Republic, who was charged with possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia, a metal smoking device. Also arrested was Terence E. Johnson, 37 of Lusby, who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a metal smoking device.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle in front of a home on Whispering Pine Circle in Lusby sometime overnight on September 5 and stole a small amount of currency that was inside. Cpl. Vladimir Bortchevsky is investigating.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dep. Aaron Locke conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Md. Rt. 2/4 and Alexander Lane in Solomons on September 6 at 11:54 p.m. The driver and two occupants of the vehicle were all found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. The driver, Shawn M. Merchant, 21 of California, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a razor blade and four White Owl blunt cigars and possession of a concealed dangerous weapon, a 12-¼ inch long knife. Also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were Justin X. Jackson, 21 of Leonardtown and Garrett I. Bond, 21 of Mechanicsville.

THEFT: Daniel E. Cates, 27 of Lusby, was arrested on September 6 at 1:25 a.m. by Dep. Frank Winston after employees of Catamaran's Restaurant in Solomons advised that Cates left the establishment without paying his bar bill. Dep. Winston traveled to Cates' home address and requested that he provide payment. Cates said he could not and then became belligerent. Winston arrested him and charged him with theft less than $500 and disorderly conduct.
