LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 4, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On September 3 at 7:45 a.m., the driver of a Chevrolet van was attempting to cross the intersection of Washington Ave. and Rosewick Rd. when she was struck by a Cadillac traveling south on Washington Ave. After the crash, the van spun out of control and struck a Charles County Sheriff's officer's car which was on Rosewick Rd. waiting to turn left onto Washington Ave. Officer T. Thompson was not injured and the drivers of the other cars were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non life-threatening injures. The investigation reveled that the driver of the van, Vivian Lopez, 48, of Waldorf, failed to yield the right of way as she attempted to cross the intersection. Officer J. Hastings investigated.

DRUG ARREST: On September 3 at 12:07 a.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer initiated a traffic stop in the 15000 block of Burnt Store Rd. in Hughesville after observing the driver of a car traveling at a high rate of speed. Marijuana was found inside the car and the occupants were arrested. Bryan Paul Strobel, 20, and Jesse Dean Hendrix, 18, both of Newburg, were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Officer J. Walter made the arrest.
