LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 3, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) today released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
BURGLARY: On August 29 at approximately 1:15 pm., law officers in St. Mary's County responded to Dent Road in Lexington Park, for a burglary. The investigation revealed the homeowner found two suspects outside the home after they had entered and taken property. One suspect described as a 20-25 year old white male, 6' tall, with a large tattoo on his right arm, wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans, fled the scene on foot when confronted by the homeowner. The second suspect described as a tall white male, with short hair, 20-25 years of age, wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans, fled the scene in a new style dark blue BMW passenger vehicle. Police in St. Mary's are searching for this man, Eric Lionel Barnes, 45, of Redgate, in connection with the armed robbery of a woman walking to her car in Great Mills on Tuesday.
ARMED ROBBERY: St. Mary's BCI detectives are currently investigating an
armed robbery which occurred on September 2nd at approximately 8:45 pm. The
investigation revealed that the owner of Stacey's Millennium Cuts on Great Mills
Road in Lexington Park, was walking to his car when he was confronted by a
suspect, identified as Eric Lionel Barnes, 45, of Redgate, Md. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victims' belongings. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot towards Great Mills. Barnes may be operating an older model black and gray Lexus passenger car.
