St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 28, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On 08/27/08 Senior Deputy First Class C. Safford responded to a residence on Lexwood Court for a report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival he found Samuel Lee Montgomery, 37, of no fixed address, standing outside of a residence yelling and crying. Mr. Montgomery's behavior drew the attention of several persons in the neighborhood. SDFC. Safford asked Mr. Montgomery what was wrong and Mr. Montgomery began to yell profanity. SDFC. Safford made contact with the complainant who stated Mr. Montgomery, who does not live at the residence, arrived at the residence very intoxicated and for no apparent reason began making threats against the complainant and threw items at the complainant. The items included a large wooden type end table. SDFC. Safford arrested Mr. Montgomery for second degree assault and disorderly conduct.

ASSAULT, DISRUPTION OF SCHOOL: On 082708 Senior Deputy First Class B. Connelly responded to Margaret Brent Middle School for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed a 13 year-old male student had been disorderly on the bus by yelling profanity on the way into school. When the bus arrived at school, the bus driver contacted the school staff and the principal boarded the bus and made contact with the student. The principal asked the student to leave the bus and as the student was exiting the bus, he (student) threw his books at the bus driver striking her in the head and chest. The student was arrested and charged with assault and disturbing a school operation/activity.

VEHICLE THEFT: On 08/27/08 at approximately 10:00 pm Deputy First Class P. Handy responded to a residence in Lexington Park for a report of a stolen vehicle. Investigation revealed on 08/27/08 at approximately 1830 hours a 1993 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from Great Mills Lane in Lexington Park. Witnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing a stocky, white, male with dark hair driving off in the Jeep. As the deputy was talking to the complainant, a male matching the description walked past the deputy. The witnesses identified the subject as the person who drove off in the Jeep. The subject, Richard Eugene Briscoe, 29, of Lexington Park, was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and theft greater then $500.00.

STABBING: On August 23rd at approximately 1230 am., police responded to a residence in the San Souci neighborhood of California for a reported stabbing. It was determined that the victim, a 24 year-old Lexington Park man and Brandon J. Dent, 22, of Great Mills, were both attending a party at the residence and began to argue. Dent stabbed the victim in the arm with a kitchen knife and fled. St. Mary's County Sheriff's Deputies located Dent driving in the area a short time later and he was charged by BCI detectives with 1st Degree Assault and incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. The victim was treated and released at St. Mary's Hospital.

FAILING TO REGISTER: On August 27th, St. Mary's County BCI detectives arrested Matthew R. Frazier, 25 years of age, of Lexington Park, for failing to register as a sex offender. As a convicted offender, Frazier is required to register every six months and failed to do so in July. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Vice narcotics detectives, assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, executed a search and seizure warrant on a residence located in Great Mills. The target, Corey Devonne Somerville, 31, of Great Mills, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia. $2,700.00 in cash was also seized. Additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.
