LA PLATA, Md. (Aug. 19, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.
BURGLARY ATTEMPT: On August 19 at 2:30 a.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer heard an intrusion alarm at Fred's Sports located in the 2800 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. The officer checked the exterior of the business and found fresh pry marks on a side door. The suspects fled prior to gaining entry. Officer B. Virts investigated.
CITIZEN ROBBERY: On August 17 at 9:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Quillback Street and St. Patrick's Drive in Waldorf for the report of a citizen robbery. Investigation revealed the victim was walking home when the suspects approached in a blue, Ford Crown Victoria. The suspects exited the car, assaulted the victim, stole his wallet, and fled. The victim suffered minor injuries. Officer I. Davis investigated.
ARREST/ARMED ROBBERY FUGITIVE: On August 12, Charles County Sheriff's officers charged John Ercell Staton, 42, of Issue, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on June 28. Staton was arrested in Pasco County, Fl. on July 23 after authorities received information that he was hiding inside a house. The Warrant Unit handled the arrest.
