St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 14, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT, DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On August 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Sdfc. C. Safford responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Spring Valley Apartments, Lexington Park. Investigation revealed Shawn L. Gantt, age 32, of Lexington Park was in possession of a stolen motor vehicle registration validation sticker which was being displayed on her motor vehicle. The validation sticker had been reported stolen in Calvert County. While conducting the investigation Gantt began acting in a disorderly manner by shouting profanities and yelling in the parking lot. After being instructed several times to discontinue her actions she continued and was placed under arrest. Gantt was subsequently charged with theft, disorderly conduct and transported to the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On August 14, 2008 at 1:45 a.m. Deputy T. Seyfried responded to a residence in Hollywood for the report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation at which time George R. Thornton, age 61, of Hollywood pushed the victim down and struck her hand causing minor injuries to her hand. Thornton was placed under arrest without incident, charged with assault 2nd degree and transported to the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT OVER $500: On August 11, 2008 at 8:24 p.m. Sdfc. B. Connelly responded to the Ross Department Store in California for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed an employee of the business, Donald R Millsaps, III, age 30, of Lexington Park, had engaged in a theft scheme which resulted in the theft of approximately $1,300.00 from his employer over a two month period. Millsaps was placed under arrest, charged with theft over $500, theft scheme over $500 and was incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
