PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (July 29, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
ILLEGAL DRUGS: On July 22 at 1:06 p.m., Dep. Andrew Clas was advised by a homeowner on Oxbow Lane in Lusby that a former roommate would not leave the residence despite being asked numerous times. Dep. Clas made contact with the subject, identified as Kody Walter August, 21 of King George, and found him to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia (a cigar blunt with suspected marijuana inside) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a half pill of Percocet, a schedule II drug.
THEFT: A red, white and black 2002 Honda XR-70 dirt bike worth $2400 was stolen from a locked shed behind a home in the 11,000 block of Hemlock Road in Lusby. The theft occurred sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on July 22. Dep. Andrew Clas is investigating.
ILLEGAL DRUGS: After conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on H.G. Trueman Road near Southern Middle School on July 24 at 10:57 p.m., DFC Robert Burggraff found the driver, later identified as Darin Olaf Rasmussen, 22 of Port Republic, to be in possession of suspected marijuana and a metal grinder, used to grind marijuana. Rasmussen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
THEFT: Dep. Moises Velasquez is investigating the theft of a Yamaha 15 horsepower blue boat motor valued at $2000 and a red gasoline can valued at $20 from a boat outside a home on Guadalupe Trail in Lusby. The theft occurred sometime between July 24 at 9:00 p.m. and July 26 at noon. Dep. Velasquez is continuing the investigation.
ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dep. John Harms conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Rousby Hall Road near Anchor Drive in Lusby on July 26 at 3:27 a.m. The driver, later identified as Carlton Glenn Moyer, 46 of Lusby, was found to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Moyer was also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Xanax. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a schedule IV drug, Xanax.
ILLEGAL DRUGS: While patrolling the area of Md. Rt. 2/4 at Broomes Island Road in St. Leonard on July 26 at 6:35 a.m., DFC Carl Fischer conducted a traffic stop on a suspected drunk driver. Later identified as Rosanne Elizabeth Nial, 30 of Park Hall, the driver was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Nial was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, a copper wire pad with burnt edges (used to aid in the ingestion of crack cocaine into the body) and a small corner of a plastic bag containing trace amounts of a white powdery substance, suspected to be crack cocaine. Nial was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
BURGLARY: A barn behind a residence in the 7000 block of Old Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach was burglarized sometime between July 25 at 9:45 p.m. and July 26 at 2:15 a.m. The unknown suspect(s) stole a Marlin .22 magnum bolt rifle valued at $200 and a Mossberg 835 12 gauge shotgun with camouflage paint, worth $200. While Dep. Seth Mitchell was investigating, a second victim, who lives on the same street, approached him and advised that unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into his home and vehicle, causing $225 in damage, but were unsuccessful. THEFT: A small yellow 4-wheeler with flame stickers worth $600 was stolen from the yard of a home in the 10,000 block of Ward Road in Dunkirk sometime during the week of July 20 through 27. Anyone with information can contact DFC John McCarroll at 410-535-2800.
ASSAULT: On Saturday, July 19 at 10:33 a.m. Dep. John Harms of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby for a check person's welfare call after a citizen observed a female being harassed by a male subject. Dep. Harms made contact with an adult female and an adult male walking on the side of the roadway. Dep. Harms observed the female to have minor injuries. The male became disorderly and grabbed the female. Dep. Harms intervened, at which time he attempted to arrest the male subject. A minor altercation ensued and the male subject fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Several additional units from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office as well as Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 7 arrived and conducted an extensive search of the area for the subject with negative results. The investigation remains open at this time.
