Charles County Receives $100K Grant for Rails-to-Trails Project


LA PLATA, Md. (July 28, 2008)—Charles County has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority to augment the Indian Head Rails-to-Trails development project. The grant will used to help finish engineering services, purchase security bollards for road crossings, and for the installation of trail surface materials.

The Indian Head trail site is 13 miles long and stretches from White Plains to Indian Head. The nature path will afford hikers and bikers a picturesque adventure through a portion of Charles County.
