MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (July 23, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On July 16, 2008, at approximately 2347 hours, Tpr. B. Sorenson was on routine patrol on northobund Rt. 301, north of Rt. 5 when he stopped Jerome Marvin Frye Jr., age 22 of Brandywine, for a traffic violation. As Frye reached for his registration, Tpr. Sorenson observed a partially burnt, suspected marijuana cigarette. Frye was arrested for possession of marijuana.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On July 18, 2008, at approximately 2232 hours, Cpl. Quade was off duty traveling westbound on Turkey Hill Road at Crescent Lane when he stopped Michael Ross Pierce, age 18 of La Plata, for a traffic violation. At that time PFC R. Christian, of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene with her K-9. A canine scan was conducted with a positive alert. A search revealed a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Pierce was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. TFC S. Murphy arrived on the scene to assist Cpl. Quade.

THEFT OF VEHICLE PLATES: On July 23, 2008, at approximately 0223 hours, TFC S. Murphy was traveling eastbound MD Rt. 227, east of MD Rt. 210 when he stopped Frederick Leon Grant, age 30 of White Plains, for a traffic violation. A check through MVA/MILES/CIC revealed the tags on the vehicle were reported stolen through the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The check also revealed there were two open warrants on Grant through the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. Grant was charge with theft of two MD registration plates.
