LA PLATA, Md. (July 23, 2008)—Charles County water and sewer service bills have a new and improved, environmentally-friendly design. The Water/Sewer Office within the Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services will soon begin mailing water and sewer invoices in a new format: a pressure-sealed invoice that doubles as its own return mail envelope. A return address label is provided for customers to make payments by mail.

County officials say the change is designed as part of an effort to use resources more efficiently and to minimize rising costs.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve the services we provide to our customers while making gains in efficiency,” said William DeAtley, Chief of Accounting. “An invoice that is also a self-mailer is more customer-friendly and cost effective than stocking two types of envelopes, and conserves natural resources by reducing waste.”

The first mailing of the new invoices is expected to be sent to water and sewer customers by the end of the week.
