Power Outage Delays Piney Point Elementary

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 2, 2008)—A power outage at Piney Point Elementary School Monday morning delayed the start of school for several hours. According to a press release issued by the public school system, the outage was caused by an oil overflow in the boiler room of the school.

SMECO was called to the school to restore power.

Students were reportedly held on their buses, supervised by teachers and staff, until they were permitted to enter the school.

A pre-kindergarten field trip scheduled for Monday went on without disruption.
