LA PLATA, Md. (May 20, 2008) - The Charles County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On May 19 at 11:50 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 2400 block of York Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. The investigation revealed the victim, a 60-year-old man, was returning to his residence when he saw a suspect fleeing through the front door. The victim chased the suspect to the back of the residence and onto a nearby bike path but the suspect ran toward Red Lion Place and escaped. The suspect is possibly a Hispanic male with a dark complexion. He was wearing dark-colored clothing and stole four or five DVDs from the residence. ARMED ROBBERY ATTEMPT: On May 18 at 7:31 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Merchants Tire located at 1160 Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery attempt. The investigation revealed the victim, a 23-year-old La Plata man, was opening the business when the suspect, who the victim believed was a customer, approached the front door. The suspect charged at the victim, demanded money and implied he had a weapon. The victim punched the suspect and a struggle ensued. The suspect fled the store toward Smallwood Drive and across Route 301. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s with an unshaven face and a “split lip.” He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a tan hat. STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On May 18 at 7 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery on the bike path near Western Parkway and St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf. The victim, a 40-year-old Waldorf man, was on his bicycle when four suspects approached him. The suspects knocked him off the bicycle, assaulted him and stole his money, his bicycle and a black apron from the restaurant where the victim is employed. The suspects fled on the bike path toward the Lancaster neighborhood. The victim walked to his place of employment and called police. He had minor injuries but refused medical treatment. Officers searched the area for the suspects, described only as black males wearing black shirts, but did not locate them. BURGLARY: On May 16 at 7:34 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Gallant Green Bar located at 14091 Woodville Road in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. The investigation revealed two suspects shattered the bar’s large front window, entered the establishment, stole liquor and Newport cigarettes and fled the scene. One of the suspects is described as a tall, slim, white male wearing loose-fitting gray sweat clothes. The other suspect is described as a slim, white male or female of short or average height. Both suspects had their heads covered and wore light-colored bandanas covering their noses and mouths.
