PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 14, 2008)—Two people are dead in Calvert County as the result of a murder suicide that occurred Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. Police say Juanita Bathsheba Evans, age 31 of Lusby, was shot by her ex-husband Robert Douglas McGinty, age 33 of Lusby.
Police say the two were recently separated. There was no protective order on file.
A 911 caller told police that there was a man with a gun outside of a residence on Big Bear Lane in Lusby. The caller identified the man as Robert McGinty.
As law enforcement personnel from the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack and Calvert County Sheriff's Office were responding to the residence, dispatchers updated the call advising that shots had been fired.
Upon arrival, a Sheriff's Deputy discovered Evans lying on the ground at the side yard of the residence. Evans had one gunshot wounds to her chest.
Police say a K9 track by Sheriff's Deputies led several houses down the street to Big Bear Lane where McGinty was discovered lying in the driveway, deceased, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Evans died a short time after arriving at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
The investigation is being continued by Trooper First Class Mounts of the Calvert Investigative Team (CIT).
