LA PLATA, Md. (May 01, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
TRAFFIC STOP NETS GUN, DRUGS: On April 29, 2008, at approximately 1:40 p.m., TFC J. Edelen was on routine patrol traveling westbound on Route 228 in the area of Trumpeter Court when he observed a window tint violation. TFC Edelen initiated a traffic stop, and made contact with Deshann Cordell Prophet, 21, of Indian Head. Edelen detected the odor of marijuana, searched the vehicle and recovered a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana a loaded 9mm Ruger Handgun reported stolen from St. Marys County. Prophet was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, handgun in vehicle, attempt to disarm law officer, first degree assault and theft over $500.
ILLEGAL DRUGS: On April 30, 2008, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Trooper M. Armstrong was on routine patrol in front of 232 Westdale Court. Trooper Armstrong observed an improperly parked vehicle and made contact with the driver Darnell Ramon Bell, 32, of Waldorf, and his passenger, Reginald Bernard Porter, 34, of Waldorf. Armstrong smelled the odor of marijuana, searched the vehicle, and recovered a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia.
