St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 30, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department yesterday released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On April 28 Deputy J. Verrosi responded to the McKay's Food Store in Lexington Park for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed Kevin Jerome Chase, age 38, and Mary Elaine White, age 51, both of Great Mills, took various items from McKay's Store, concealed those items and exited past the cash registers without paying for them. Both Chase and White were charged with theft under $100.00.

THEFT SCHEME: On April 23 Deputy Michael Campbell responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed that between the dates of February 17, 2008 and April 9, 2008, Lisa Darlene Latham, age 40, of Charlotte Hall, stole a check book from the victim. Latham forged and cashed fourteen checks totaling over $4,000 without the permission of the victim. Deputy Campbell completed an application for a statement of charges against Latham for theft and theft scheme. An arrest warrant was issued for Latham charging her with fourteen counts of theft over $500.00 and two counts of theft scheme. On April 28, Latham was arrested on the warrant.
