Calvert Announces Last Day of School for 2008

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (April 18, 2008)—The Calvert County Public School system this week announced the last day of school for the 2007-2008 school year. Pre-kindergarten students will be dismissed on Wednesday, June 11. Students in kindergarten through grade 11 will dismiss on Thursday, June 12 (a 2-hour early dismissal day). The last day of school for high school seniors will be Friday, May 16.

The last day of work for 10-month employees will be Friday, June 13.

School officials also said that if a high school senior needs to take one or more of the High School Assessment tests, he will need to take the test during the week of May 19.

The Board of Education built five days into the 2007-08 school calendar for use as snow, weather, or emergency days. This school year, schools were closed only one day.

School officials say that in the event of a highly unusual weather event or some other unexpected circumstance, the last day of school will have to be adjusted accordingly.
