Maryland NRP Reports

ANNAPOLIS (April 17, 2008) - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) today released the following incident and arrest reports. NRP is the enforcement arm of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). NRP is the only police force aside from the Maryland State Police that has statewide jurisdiction.

BOATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: On Thursday, April 10, at 11:35 p.m., the NRP investigated a boating accident at the mouth of Washington Creek on the Patuxent River near Mechanicsville.

Christopher G. Blyler, 39, of Mechanicsville was operating his 23-foot vessel with four passengers when he allegedly struck a submerged object in the river. During the investigation, Blyler was arrested and charged with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol, operating a vessel while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, negligent operation and failure to display registration numbers on vessel. Blyler was transported by NRP to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and later released on his signature.

A court date of June 27 has been scheduled for Blyler in St. Mary’s County District Court. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department assisted NRP with the incident.
