LA PLATA, Md. (April 1, 2008)—Christine M. Stefanides, President and Chief Executive Officer of Civista Health in La Plata has been appointed to a three-year term on the Maryland Health Quality and Cost Council.
The council was formed in October to coordinate best practices of the private and public sector in order to improve health care in Maryland. The council is chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown with Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, John Colmers acting as Vice-Chair.
In a letter confirming her appointment, Governor Martin O'Malley wrote, "Having great confidence in your dedication to public service, and with your assistance and support, I know we will succeed in our goal to make a positive difference for all Marylanders."
Stefanides has been with Civista Health since 1979 and has served as President and CEO since 1999.
