MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (March 25, 2008) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 20, at approximately 9:14 a.m., TFC J. Edelen was traveling on southbound U.S. Route 301, north of Billingsley Road, White Plains, when he observed a gray Infiniti following the vehicle in front it too closely. TFC Edelen initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Don Juan Roane, 33, of Philadelphia, Pa. While TFC Edelen was speaking with Roane, he observed several indicators of criminal activity. TFC Edelen requested a K-9 respond to his location. Sergeant C. Force, of the Maryland State Police responded to the scene with her K-9. The K-9 gave a position alert. A search of the vehicle revealed an orange prescription bottler with no label containing one valium and percocet. Roane was placed under arrest and charge with the following: removal of prescription label and two counts of CDS not marijuana.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 20, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Sergeant C. Force was traveling southbound Post Office Road, north of Maryland Route 5, when she observed a tan Chrysler traveling in the same direction with no rear glass window, and a severely cracked windshield. Sergeant Force initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Stacy Lauren Jackson, 19, of Hughesville. Sergeant Force observed Jackson’s hand shaking as she look for her license and registration. A routine MVA check advised that the suspect was caution code for drugs. Trooper B. Sorenson arrived at the scene to assist Sergeant Force. Sergeant Force conducted a K-9 scan, and the K-9 (Maddie) gave a passive, positive response to the driver’s front door. A probable cause search, based on the K-9 alert was conducted. 0.4 grams of a greenish vegetable matter, suspected marijuana was located in the center console. Jackson was placed under arrest and was charged with did possess a controlled dangerous substance of schedule I, marijuana.

ASSAULT: On March 22, at approximately 12:30 p.m., TFC J. Edelen responded to 4505 Middleton Road, Pomfret, for a report of a fight with a knife. Upon his arrival, TFC Edelen spoke with Lydell Walter Wood, 21, of Pomfret, and Andron Rydell Wood, 24, of La Plata. A. Wood and L. Wood had gotten into a verbal altercation about their father giving another brother money. After A. Wood cut his brother with a knife, L. Wood grabbed a knife and swung it at A. Wood. They both went outside into the yard and started fighting more. Both brothers were arrested and charged with second degree assault.
