Soprano To Perform with Chesapeake Orchestra on Thursday



The newest member of St. Mary's College's voice faculty, Gwendolyn Degentesh will perform Manuel de Falla's Siete Canciones Populares Españolas with the college orchestra on Thursday.
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. (March 23, 2008)—Soprano Gwendolyn Degentesh will perform Manuel de Falla's Siete Canciones Populares Españolas with the St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Silberschlag, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, in Montgomery Hall 25 on the SMCM campus. In this casual concert, the orchestra will also perform excerpts from Le Bourgeois gentilhomme by Richard Strauss.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The newest member of St. Mary's College's voice faculty, Degentesh has appeared both nationally and abroad, including at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Vietri sul Mare, Italy; the Italy & USA: Alba Music Festival in Alba, Italy; the Schlern International Music Festival in Schlern, Italy; and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. She is a graduate of St. Mary's College and holds a master's degree in voice performance from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
