Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (March 17, 2008) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: While conducting a patrol check on March 13 in St. Leonard, Dep. Moises Velasquez observed a vehicle parked in the side parking lot of the St. Leonard Fastop at 12:39 a.m. Dep. Velasquez approached the vehicle and observed the driver lying down on the seat. After asking the driver to lower the window, he detected a strong odor of marijuana. A search revealed an aluminum can with suspected marijuana residue as well as two Ziploc baggies with suspected marijuana residue. Ryan T. Snell, 18, of St. Leonard, was charged on a criminal citation with possession of drug paraphernalia.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dep. Thomas Rickard conducted a traffic stop on March 13 at 8:50 a.m. at Ball Road and Hidden Creek Road in St. Leonard. The driver, later identified as Keith R. Moore, 39, of St. Leonard, was found to be driving on a suspended license. A search incident to arrest revealed two metal pipes containing a burnt residue of suspected marijuana. He was charged on a criminal citation with possession of drug paraphernalia.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On March 14 at 1:03 a.m. Dep. Jason Lord responded to Catamaran's Restaurant on Solomons Island for a fight in progress. While officers were investigating the initial complaint, John B. Hazzard, 28, of Lusby, became disorderly. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order.

BURGLARY: Dep. Sarra Daniels responded to a home on Central Drive in Prince Frederick for a burglary call on March 14 at 1:37 a.m. The victim advised that he observed a flashlight shining through his window and went to investigate. He saw an unknown suspect dressed in black clothing run from the house into the woods. A K-9 unit responded and tracked the unknown suspect into the woods but no suspect was located. The victim advised that nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.

DOP: Dep. April Litteral responded to a home on Coster Road in Lusby on March 15 for a reported destruction of property. The homeowner advised that on March 14 between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) shot the front glass window of his front door with a BB gun. An additional 2 shots were fired into the siding of the residence as well. The damage is estimated at $75. Dep. Litteral is continuing the investigation.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 15 at 12:35 a.m. after conducting a traffic stop on Western Shores Blvd. in Port Republic, DFC James Bell detected a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Derrick M. Holmes, 18, of Port Republic, and two 17-year-old males from Huntingtown and St. Leonard, were all charged with possession of marijuana. The two juveniles were charged on youth reports and released to a parent.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Dep. Moises Velasquez, assisting Sgt. Kenneth Gregory, arrested Matthew D. Bateman, 27 of Potomac, for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after he and a passenger were observed parked at the end of Nursery Road in Lusby on March 15 at 11:30 p.m. The passenger, Susannah Molayem, 28, of Rockville, was charged on a criminal citation with possession of drug paraphernalia, an aromatherapy box, used to warm suspected controlled dangerous substances.
