St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 16, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT SECOND DEGREE: On March 14 Dep. M. Rogers, Cpl. C. Grumbles, and State Trooper Cpl., A. Malaspina responded to a residence on Yorktown Rd., Lexington Park for the report of an Assault. Investigation revealed the female victim was struck in the head with an ashtray by Suspect Eric Vause, 43, of Lexington Park. Suspect Vause was located in the bedroom of the residence and refused the officers orders to present his hands which he had covered under blankets. After speaking with the suspect for several minutes he presented his hands and was placed under arrest, charged with Assault Second Degree and transported to the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 14 Deputy Fleenor responded to the Myrtle Point Park for a citizen's report of subject s at the park smoking marihuana. When Deputy Fleenor arrived he observed four subjects walking out of a trail from the wooded area. Deputy Fleenor approached them and advised that the park was closed after dark, during the conversation he immediately noticed the smell of marihuana emitting from the subjects. When questioned about the marihuana the subjects each handed over their marihuana. Three of the subjects were cooperative, had local addresses, were released and charges are to follow. The fourth subject, Jason Welch, age 22, of California, Md. was uncooperative and was transported to the detention center charged with Possession of Marijuana.

THEFT UNDER $500: On March 10 Sdfc. D. Corcoran responded to the Wal-Mart, California for the reported Theft. Investigation revealed three juvenile suspects entered the Wal-Mart and proceeded to remove items valued at $354.78 from the display racks. The items were concealed on their person and they exited the store failing to render payment for the items. The subjects were detained by Loss Prevention Officers and escorted back into the store. The juveniles were each charged with Theft under $500 and released pending further action by juvenile authorities.

BURGLARY: On March 14 Deputy S. Cathcart responded to a residence in Leonardtown for the report of a Burglary to two private boats. Investigation by Deputy Cathcart led to the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile from Lexington Park. Complainant reported two boats had been broken into and various items stolen and/or damaged on the boats. Value of items stolen was reported to be $270.00. The juvenile was released to his parent pending further action by juvenile authorities.

ASSAULT SECOND DEGREE: On March 15 Deputy J. Maguire responded to a residence in Great Mill's for the report of an Assault. Investigation revealed the female victim was assaulted by Gordon A. Mason, age 25, of Great Mill's following a verbal dispute. Mason was placed under arrest, charged with Assault Second Degree and incarcerated pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER: On March 14 Deputy J. Maletto responded to a residence in Leonardtown for the report of a violation of a protective order. Investigation revealed the suspect, Michelle N. Sinlao, age 23, of Leonardtown had entered the residence of the victim after being served with a Protective Order directing her to remain away from the premises of the victim. Sinlao was arrested, charged with Violation of a Protective Order and transported to the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
